Prison Ministry

We, at the Darwin Community Church as a means of outreach have been visiting Berrimah Jail for some 10 or more years. Men and women of the church with a vision and passion to reach those in prison go into the jail every fortnight.

Through the many years of visiting the prison they have built up many relationships with both prisoners and the guards and have seen a few of the prisoners come to know Christ and go on with their new found found faith.

The Scriptures remind us that we have a responsibility to remember those in bonds.

Hebrews 13:3: "Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them that suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body."

Matthew 25:36: "Naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me."

Hebrews 10:34: "For ye had compassion on me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance."
