"But the people who trust the Lord will become strong again. They will rise up as an eagle in the sky; they will run and not need rest; they will walk and not become tired." - Isaiah 40:31

Welcome visitors to Darwin Community Church.
The highway of life presents many obstacles and challenges. Some people overcome; and some fall by the wayside. We believe that Jesus Christ is able to transform lives. We believe Jesus Christ made a difference in the world, in the lives of those He knew, and the lives of generations that followed Him. We want to do the same. We want our lives to Honour Him and benefit others. We know and understand that we are not perfect – we are a work in progress – but the One we honour and follow is!
Our deepest desire is that you might come to know God through Jesus Christ. Regardless of where you are in your search, or walk with God, we believe that God’s truth will set you free. We’re excited to be able to share our stories – real stories – of ordinary people who have been completely changed by an extraordinary God. We look upon each person as being valuable to God, and being personally loved by Him. We are encouraged to uphold, honour and love each other despite the faults we may see in each other. We believe that God can make a difference in your life, and our prayer is that we may be an encouragement to you on your journey, of faith. God bless you, and thanks for spending time with us!
Scripture: The Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are divine in origin and are, therefore, the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
Gospel: It is the Good News of Jesus Christ to the human race which is separated from the Creator because of sin and disobedience. It’s message is that there is only one way of reconciliation available – that is, a person can be restored to a right relationship with the Creator only in and through the finished work of Jesus Christ upon the cross at Calvary. The Gospel is clearly defined in 1 Corinthians 15:1-3.
Creation: was by a supernatural act of God by which He brought the universe into existence in six literal successive 24 hour days. On the seventh day God rested and viewed this creation as finished and completed without evolutionary processes. Genesis 1 – 2.
Trinity: is the Diety of the Three Persons of the Godhead – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The Fall of Man: The origin of man was by a direct creative act of God who formed him from the clay and gave him the breath of life, with man awakening as a living soul. Man by his voluntary and conscious choice of sin fell from his original state of innocence to that of condemnation. All men are sinners by heredity and practice and are therefore, totally without excuse – being unable to meet the standards of God’s holiness – therefore needing a Saviour.
The Way of Salvation: Jesus Christ is the only way of Salvation. He died for our sins, and rose again for our justification. Our hope of eternal life as believers is by faith in Him alone.
Works: A person is not saved or redeemed by the works he/she does. A person is saved by the finished work of Jesus Christ and none other. The works that a person does are a reflection of the work of God that has taken place within at the moment of salvation.
Sin: is anything which is contrary to the holy character of God as revealed in the Word of God.
The Role of the Holy Spirit: Is to indwell and equip the life of the believer. He bestows gifts that are to be used for the edification of the whole church body.
Judgment: there is a time coming when mankind will stand before Almighty God and be judged by Him for the deeds they have done. There is a Great White Throne judgment where God will open the Lamb’s Book of Life and those whose names do not appear in it will be judged according to their rejection of His Son as Saviour.
Hell: is a literal place that is prepared for the devil and his angels and becomes the abode of those identified with Satan and of all those who reject the person of Jesus Christ as their Saviour.
The Church: is the visible church of Jesus Christ and is made up of born again believers, walking in fellowship with Him and with each other; with Christ as the Head, seeking to proclaim the truth of the Gospel.
Satan: is a real and active created being who seeks to snare and control the lives of mankind. Originally created by God as an angel of great beauty and brightness of person, and being an angel of great power and wisdom until sin was found in him, when he sought to assume the position and place of God. He was deposed from his position by God and became and is the adversary of God and mankind.
Jesus Christ: is the eternal Son of God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin named Mary. In His incarnation He came into possession of a real human physical nature (spirit, soul and body) and that He lived an absolute life of sinlessness. In His death, He made a full and complete atonement for our sins. His death was predetermined, voluntary, vicarious, sacrificial, expiatory, propitiatory, redemptive and substitutionary in the sinners place. He rose from the dead on the third day and ascended into heaven. he is the only mediator between God and man.
Second Coming: is the personal and imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Family Unit: God has sanctioned marriage between a man and a woman, therefore we hold that marriage is a heterosexual relationship between a natural man and a natural woman within the confines of lawful matrimony.

We at Darwin Community Church as a means out outreach have been visiting men and women in the Prison for over 15 years. Many relationships have been built up with prisoners and officers alike with some coming to know Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour.
Each Sunday morning we have dedicated teachers who use a Bible based curriculum to teach children about God and the Bible. Our desire is that the children will come to know Jesus Christ and make the Bible a part of their lives.
This is a new program for our youth from Year 6 to Year 10. It is on Sunday Morning and provides a Bible Based program from Genesis to Revelation. It is envisaged this will lead to another day dedicated to meet their growing needs.
This ministry focuses on the needs on the elderly who are often shut in and have very little contact with others.  Sharing in this ministry is Darwin Baptist Church where a very effective ministry has been happening for a few years now.
This is a Christian Newspaper that is published in Western Australia and it tells the stories of people who have found Jesus Christ and had their lives changed forever. Each month a PDF will be placed on website that can be read and our prayer is that you too might find purpose and a relationship with Jesus Christ. Happy Reading!

The campsite is an outreach ministry of the Darwin Community Church. It is a beautiful place located some 80 kms from Darwin and 10 kms from the town of Batchelor. It offers some modern amenities while still retaining a do it yourself approach to camping. It has electricity throughout, double gas oven, chill room and some Old Sydney William Huts. A modern ablution block is available which provides hot and cold water. A new addition is a Disabled shower and toilet facility has been completed and is available. We encourage camping during the Dry season which is May through to October.
The campsite is beautifully situated and enables people to camp as long as they want and then take day trips to Litchfield National Park and visit Florence Falls, Buley Rock Hole and Wangi Falls and then return to the campsite for refreshment and relaxation.
We have onsite caretakers who will make all campers feel welcome and attend to you enquiries.
Booking is absolutely essential as it is first in first served basis. The campsite over recent times has become ideal for weddings. Please fill out booking form on the other side and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
The fees for use of campsite are at present $15 per person per day. Concessions will be given to group bookings of 50 people or more about $10 per person. Children under 5 remain free of any fees. Please note: Creek does not belong to campsite and is open to the public. You need to provide your own lifesaver for swimming and water sessions. The creek is surveyed for crocodiles before the Dry season but no guarantees can be given in writing – do so at your own discretion.

Darwin Community Church had its humble beginnings at the Retta Dixon Homes for boys and girls.
In 1956 Mr Stan Eldridge with his wife Connie and family came to Darwin and began services which were held in their house continually for 5 years. These services included Worship and Sunday School classes.
In 1961 with the provision of a Sydney William Hut, the services were moved to Stuart Park where the services were conducted for another 5 years.
On Sunday, the 3rd September, 1961, the Darwin Community Church was formed, and 23 baptised believers were received into membership by Mr EA Collins, the AIM General Secretary.
On Thursday 7th April, 1966 the church was officially opened and dedicated by Miss M. Shankelton, MBE at the present site at Millner. Pastor Eldridge continued in his role as Pastor and Wally Fejo was called to be his assistant, and served in that capacity from 1963-1965.
In 1965 Ralph Day served as Assistant Pastor to Mr Eldridge, continuing in the growing ministry of the church with its various activities.
In 1969 Pastor Lymburn was called and served for 12 months.
From 1970 – 1974 the pastoral responsibilities were shared by Mr Eldridge and Ralph Day until Pastor Eldridge’s homecoming in 1974.
From 1974 – 1977 Ralph Day and the diaconate shared pastoral responsibilities.
In December 1976 the Church called Max Shenck to be the Pastor of the Church and supported by his wife and family, served in this capacity until June 1981.
From 1981 – 1983 Ralph Day and the diaconate shared the pastoral responsibilities.
